Your image gets printed directly onto a sheet of 1/16" thick aluminum. The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. My education in photography came courtesy of the United States Army. In the Army our training was with the good old 4x5 Speed Graphic. My work for the Army was all performed in what was formerly West Germany over a two and a half year period. I can't imagine what I would trade for those years, they were some of the best.
